((Freckles))for those of us that aren't naturally blessed.
Hey Everyone,
This is my first blog post! (Finally) This look absolutely took off over summer and I was definitely fascinated. After watching my best friend who coincidentally was covered in freckles and feeling overcome with jealously. I have decided to do a step by step on how I achieve
freckles that cause no suspicion and look completely natural with no crazy
techniques or heavy patches. So if you're interested keep reading.
1) Apply a dewy looking foundation: This not only
makes the freckles 'stick' but also helps to create a no-make up effect. (Which
is ultimately what you want as freckles are only on bare skin and not over make
up.)
2) Get a small liner brush
(synthetic hair ones are best) and use a light warm coloured brown powder. I
use the shades 'peanut butter' and 'chocolate' from the too faced chocolate
palette. Any warm coloured eyeshadow will do, and a darker more earthy toned
brown. The warm colour here is the most important. Have you ever looked at someone
covered in freckles? They appear warm toned and slightly orange-ey on some skin
tones. If you have a darker skin tone still apply a warmer brown.
3)
Dip the liner brush really lightly into the warmer colour and start round the
eyes. I usually go underneath my lash line. You don't have to be careful on
this part as freckles look super natural underneath the eyes as that is where
we easily get sun spots and damage! Tap the warm coloured powder over the nose
and slightly on the side of the nose BUT do not go onto the cheeks. Unless you
want to go for the 'Im a doll in the school play' then try to avoid the cheeks.
Not only is it the last place that freckles naturally occur but runs the risk
of looking fake and drawn on. After tapping the warmer brown underneath the
eyes and over the nose, use your ring finger to push the powder down and
'dilute it'. You will notice the powder will lose some of its colour and start to create unique shape.
When tapping down the powder it also creates a slight discolouration on the
nose (which is a good thing) as it creates a more natural background.
4) When you have repeated step 3 enough times for you
to see a warm freckle background coming through, its now time to use that
darker brown powder. Take the liner brush and gently fill in any gaps that the
warm liner has now. I use 'double dotting' which really helps create a natural
look. Instead of spacing the darker freckles out; put two of them together! The
darker freckles should be pressed down immediately with your finger and try to
use different fingers whilst you use the darker powder as it can discolour
wayyyy more than the warm powder. Focus mainly on under the eyes and on the
bridge of the nose.
5) You're nearly done! So by now you should have a
pretty snazzy looking set of freckles that are pressed in and natural looking.
All you need to do is set them and seamlessly conceal them with the rest of
your face. Grab a yellow toned powder and lightly pat it over the top of the
freckles. (This will take away some colour but will also make it seem as though
you have attempted to hide them - ultimately seeming more natural)
6) Grab a bronzer and lightly go over the nose and
cheeks again and then you are done!
- This was actually pretty fun for me to write, so if
you enjoyed this piece let me know! I'm new to the blogging game and would
appreciate it! :)
